Unless you have been living under a rock you will know NYFW is in full swing. For one week fashion influencers, bloggers, models and celebrities will descend on both Skylight locations in Midtown and Soho . Fashion week is as much about the clothes and designers as it is about the celebrities and drama that sometimes ensues. Here’s our top picks from New York Fashion Week 2015.
Public School is a New York story. Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne were born and raised in New York city. They pull their inspiration from the magnetic and restless energy of the city in which they work and live. They describe their ‘girl’ as someone who has traveled picking up pieces along the way. Their collection represents clean lines including a loose trench and short skirts with delicate horizontal stripes of red. Sheer overlays worn over comfy black pants and the same striped sheer in a flowing, roomy dress and coat set.
‘A Return to Urban Roots’
Alexander Wang went for simplicity with a grunge finish by using just a black colour palette to give a sophisticated and sumptuous new outlook that we’ve not really ever seen from him before. This collection has more of a feminine and grown up feel in comparison to his previous more sports luxe collections. Boots were stompy and clompy with a rebellious feel. Bags were punctuated with studs giving that edgy grunge feel.
It is not over yet so I am sure there will be more collections we are dying over!
Earthy Tones have been everywhere recently but if any colour is ‘Having their moment’ right now it would be rust. That perfect rich, burnt orange that it is universally flattering on every skintone. Rust is everywhere from the ‘Folk Trend’ collections on the catwalks to our favourite bloggers sporting this on trend colour in every style post.
These rich tones have been seen on every streetstyle blogger and fashionistas alike. Everywhere seems to be stocking those rusty oranges, easy to wear khaki’s and soft tans to welcome in the winter months. No only is it on-trend for this season it is also a great alternative to the tried and tested black. We here at DressesHq are definitely obsessing over this beautiful shade.
