2016 was an exciting and eventful year for the fashion world and we decided to round-up 5 of our top moments, enjoy!
1. Gigi & Bella Hadid Walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
#SisterGoals! The gorge siblings became the first ever sisters to walk at the same Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, strutting down the runway in Paris on Dec 5th. They both looked divine (no surprises there), exhumed confidence and absolutely slayed the show! While Gigi is a VS veteran, it was Bella’s first time to walk in the show – when speaking about the pride and happiness they felt for each other, it’s obvious emotion over came them. How sweet!!
2. Kendall Jenner – Covergirl
What a year for this gal – She graced not 1, not 4, but 7 Vogue covers this year!! With each cover as stunning as the last, there’s no doubt in our mind that her success will keep growing in 2017!
3. 90s Fashion Revival
Perhaps the biggest trend of 2016 was the revival of 90s fashion nostalgia which infiltrated it’s way across the entire fashion scene. From high end to high street, 90s threads became cool again, with slip dresses, grunge looks & chokers at the forefront of the revival. So many celebs took to this trend instantly, stepping out in the cutest slip dresses, crop tops and off-the-shoulder numbers. We’re personally loving this 90s comeback and hope it sticks around in 2017!
4. Gigi Hadid Wins Model of the Year 2016 Award
Is there no end to this girls amazingness!? Not only was she the face of almost every campaign and collection this year, she also won Model of the Year at the 2016 British Fashion Awards! Nominated alongside Kendall Jenner and her very own little sister Bella Hadid, Gigi understandably was overcome with emotion when accepting the award, extending her gratitude to the fashion industry -“Thank you for being the most amazing industry I could ever ask to be a part of.” With past winners of the award including the likes of Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne, we reckon Gigi is set for world domination in 2017!
5. QUEEN BEY’S SLAY STYLE
Beyonce kicked off 2016 with a storm – dropping her massive hit ‘Formation’ that left us all glued to the screen playing the video over & over, taking in the fashion, eagerly adding SLAY to our vocabulary and genuinely obsessing over her overall amazingness….THEN she hit us with Lemonade and we well and truly lost it!! This year Queen Bey has strongly established herself as an artist, a feminist icon and style queen – winning the CFDA Fashion Icon of the Year award in June. She’s also ending the year with the title of the most Grammy nominated female artist in history, no big deal right?! We have no doubt Bey will slay her way to 2017.
